NCHRP Submittals for AASHTO's Subcommittee on Design – This site is intended for use by members of the Subcommittee on Design and its Technical Committees to submit research proposals for consideration by the Subcommittee’s Executive Council prior to submission to NCHRP. The National Cooperative Highway Research Program is an applied, contract-research program that develops near-term, practical solutions to problems facing transportation agencies. After proposals have been submitted to NCHRP by the Subcommittee on Design, evaluations are performed by FHWA and NCHRP, reviews are conducted by appropriate AASHTO committees, and the AASHTO Standing Committee on Research makes the final decision as to which proposals receive funding each year.
20-7 Submittals – Proposals for the NCHRP 20-7 Program may be submitted only by AASHTO subcommittees that report to the Standing Committee on Highways (SCOH). This program funds projects that are beyond the capabilities or resources of the volunteer-based AASHTO committees. These projects are smaller than the typical NCHRP project and typically require quicker turn-around. Funding for a single project cannot exceed $100,000 and the duration of these research projects is usually less than 12 months.
